About Urua

Who we are

Urua is a Nigerian-built hyperlocal commerce platform designed for life inside estates. We connect residents who need things done with trusted runners who live nearby and local stores and market vendors who sell what people need every day.

"Urua" means market in Igbo. We chose this name because we believe every estate should have the market at its doorstep — not just those who can drive to one. Our mission is to make everyday commerce accessible, safe, and instant for every Nigerian household.

We are a product-first, trust-first platform. Every runner is verified. Every order is escrow-protected. Every dispute is investigated fairly. We are building infrastructure for the next generation of neighbourhood commerce in Nigeria — starting in Abuja, growing nationwide.

⚠️ Off-Platform Activity

Any deal, payment, or arrangement made outside the Urua app — via WhatsApp, cash, phone calls — is entirely at your own risk. Urua provides zero protection, zero dispute resolution, and zero liability for off-platform activity. Accounts found engaging in off-platform transactions may be permanently banned.

Pay before your errand starts

The service fee (₦1,500 estate / ₦2,000 market) is held in escrow before your errand begins. Funds are only released to the runner on confirmed delivery.

📸

Refunds require proof

Refunds are only granted for verified wrong or damaged goods. You must submit photo evidence within 2 hours of delivery through the app. No refunds for change of mind.

🚫

No off-platform requests

Do not share your address, contact, or payment details outside the app. Any instruction given verbally to a runner that isn't in the order is not Urua's responsibility.

For Runners — Strict Rules

🔒

Never open packages

Runners must NEVER open, inspect, or tamper with any goods or packages. Violation = immediate permanent ban and potential liability for damages.

All communication stays in-app

You may NOT share your phone number, WhatsApp, or any contact detail with residents or store owners. All messages must go through Urua chat only. Discovery of off-platform contact = permanent ban.

Deliver to the stated address only

You must deliver to the exact address in the order. No side deliveries or redirections without in-app approval from the resident.

Maintain a minimum 4.0 star rating

Ratings below 4.0 trigger a review. Below 3.5 = 7-day suspension. Persistent low ratings = permanent removal. Treat every errand with care.

Identity verification

Urua may request government-issued ID at any time. Runners who decline or provide false documents are permanently banned.

Timely delivery

Unexplained delays beyond 2× the estimated time are penalised and affect your rating. Update your status in-app if you encounter problems.

For Store Owners

💰

2.5% commission per fulfilled order

💰 2.5% commission

Urua charges a 2.5% commission on every order total fulfilled through the platform. This is automatically deducted from your weekly payout, processed every Monday for the prior week's completed orders.

Wrong goods = fine + mandatory refund

Dispatching incorrect, expired, or damaged goods = ₦5,000 fine per incident + full refund to the resident within 24 hours. Three incidents = store suspension. Five incidents = permanent ban.

Accurate listings required

All products listed must be in stock and priced correctly. Repeatedly listing unavailable items leads to store suspension. Urua audits listings periodically.

Pack orders correctly

Stores are responsible for correct packing. Disputes from missing or substituted items without prior resident approval will be resolved against the store.

For Market Vendors

2.5% commission applies

The same 2.5% commission structure applies to market vendors. Payouts every Monday.

Describe goods accurately

Fresh goods must be accurately described — weight, freshness, variety. Fraudulent descriptions = permanent ban.

Same off-platform ban

Vendors may not solicit direct orders or payments outside the Urua app. All transactions must happen through the platform.
